Pines are unique and, contrary to spruce, come in a variety of shapes from straight to twisting and turning as well as a variety of sizes. In Norway, pines are commonly found up to 1000m altitude (smaller specimens have been found up to 1300m a.s.l.) Pines have resin that protects the wood and keeps dead trees standing for up to centuries as beautiful pieces of nature's own art. In Norway, pines that have been dead for more than a year, are to be spared as they contribute to the diversity of nature.
